An amazing antique Ostby and Barton filigree mounting creates a wonderful frame for the silky and smooth light blue flash of this fully restored opal doublet ring.
Ostby and Barton Co., a jewelry manufacturing company, was founded in 1879 and was world renowned by the early 1900's. Headquartered in Providence Rhod Island and was prevalent through the 1940s.
Die struck pieces like this are a reminder of our pre-WWII creative ingenuity and a history lost to forced industrial changes in the war effort that dismantled the creative industries rose in there place munitions and weapons of war. After the 1940s what jewelry machine were left became relics lost, isolated to very small operations doted throughout the U.S.
